Book RecommendationsI had difficulty in producing this list and deciding when to stop and what to leave out. There has been a boom in counselling, psychotherapy and self help books literature in parallel with the proliferation of courses and "schools" and it is often hard to determine what is new and fresh and what is "old wine in new bottles", so I have included what I think of as classic texts. The literature about management and leadership also presents the same problem of sorting out the authentic from the trite and I have included books that are readable and having something to say which I think will stand the test of time. I remember the words of Muriel James on a workshop "Never mistake complexity for depth" and I know that readability is a personal thing so I would be happy to talk to anyone who needs a specific recommendation. Of course I don't necessarily agree with the views expressed in these books but I have found them informative, stimulating and sometimes inspiring. Please note that counselling is spelt with one 'l' in the U.S. There may be typos, but that isn't one of them!
